English to Maltese Translation Volunteer

Friends of the Earth Malta is looking for volunteers who can help translate environmental information and campaign material from English into Maltese. The role can be carried out from Floriana or remotely.

What you’ll be doing

• Translating press releases, press statements and blog posts from English into Maltese.
• Helping translate material for leaflets, social media and other short-form content.
• Translating educational material covering environmental topics such as food, agriculture, biodiversity, climate, energy and resource use.
• Reviewing and proofreading translated material in Maltese and English.
• Where appropriate, volunteers may occasionally have the opportunity to represent the organisation on Maltese television or radio programmes, with training provided.

Who this could suit

This opportunity could suit someone with a strong command of written and spoken Maltese who is comfortable working with English-language material and has an interest in environmental and social issues. Translation and proofreading skills will be particularly useful.

When and where

The opportunity is ongoing rather than linked to a single event. Friends of the Earth Malta has previously stated that volunteering hours can be agreed with the selected volunteer and may vary from week to week. The role can be carried out in Floriana or remotely.
