Two Days That Set New Ideas in Motion
On 17 and 18 May, our Europiamo community met in Rome, Lazio, for a two-day gathering that focused on connection, clarity, and preparing the ground for new local initiatives. It brought together Europiamo Ambassadors, young people from the network, and representatives from Jules Verne and Ostia Clean Up, forming a small but enthusiastic group of 15 participants .
Why we met
This Lazio meet-up had a simple aim: strengthen the local group, welcome new faces, and agree on the priorities for the months ahead. It’s easy to underestimate how important this is, but without a shared direction, even the best ideas struggle to get anywhere.
What we actually did
The programme focused on interaction rather than long explanations.
• Icebreakers and informal games helped everyone get comfortable quickly, which made a noticeable difference for newcomers.
• Open discussion circles encouraged honest conversation about expectations, motivations, and what people want to improve in the local community.
• A goal-setting session led to clear priorities, including improving visibility in Lazio and planning more youth-driven activities.
• A short reflection round wrapped up the event, giving participants space to share what worked and what needs refining.
Nothing complicated. Just simple activities that build trust and make it easier for people to work together.
What changed
Even with a compact schedule, the impact was visible. The group left better connected, more confident as a community, and with a shared roadmap for upcoming local projects . It also opened the door to new collaborations with the participating organisations, which should be explored further rather than left on the shelf.
What comes next
The follow-up is already in motion through online collaboration spaces and upcoming check-ins. Lazio now has a clearer base to build on, and if the group keeps the same consistency it showed during these two days, their next local initiatives will move from ideas to real action.
This event proved something simple: when young people and organisations meet locally with purpose, things start shifting immediately. And in Lazio, that shift is already underway.
