The Island Sanctuary has been dedicated to caring for stray and abandoned dogs in Malta for over 30 years. Originally founded as Animal Samaritans in 1986 on Manoel Island, the organization has since evolved to better serve its mission. On August 31, 1991, we relocated to Fort Tas-Silg, Delimara, a more suitable environment for our dogs, and rebranded as The Island Sanctuary. As a registered charity, we provide shelter, medical care, and loving homes for dogs in need. Our commitment to animal welfare remains at the heart of everything we do, giving these dogs a second chance at life.
